The Circus Act

The Circus Act

…Then the laughing psychopath,
the clown
jumped evenly, gracefully
ascending like a dying hot air balloon,
pretending now to be rain
now snow
now a raging blizzard
while he withdraws a poisoned dagger from his cloak

He smiled and danced toward the Ambassador,
moved into his space, his
dripped blade and his half-crazed smile
cocked on one side
could be seen,
if one was looking at his face instead of
the knife
-which teased-
he charged swiftly over the gravel,
as quickly as an attacking tiger
He pouched insanely on the
there is a rush of bright red blood
and the screaming man is
coll l a p s
while the clown finishes off his victim
